Warm Support from ASPAC Members for Japan Earthquake
On March 11, when the Earthquake hit Japan, Kiwanis Asia-Pacific Convention was held in Melaka, Malaysia. The news was fast spread by local televisions and radios to the attendees, who gave heartfelt sympathies to the Japanese participants. A charity box was circulated during the dinner that day, accumulating over 200,000 Yen which was donated to Governor Kawasaki. Also, Governor Chin-Hsiang Lu of Taiwan District pledged to contribute $2,000 each to New Zealand-South Pacific District and to Japan District. This generosity shown by Kiwanis Asia-Pacific members represents the true Kiwanis spirit. Japanese Kiwanians would like to extend gratitude for this support.
